overheating

ok i got a 98 civic and the prob is that it overheats. but the weird thing is that the gauge only goes up when im at a light or in the drive thru and stuff like that and when i accelerate it goes back down to normal i checked the fluid, thermostat, and the fan goes on to i dont know what the hell could be?? was wondering if u guys could help me out b4 taking to a mech and charging me a gang of $$

so the fan w orks and you already replaced the thermostat? try a rad flush

well u could hear the fan turning on and this guy at work told me that if u feel the bottom radiator hose hot the thermostat is working i ll try to do that radiator flush to see how it goes

Fluid is missing in your cooling system . Follow all the steps to fill your system. If it dosn't work , maybe faulty water pump...

It could be few different problems, but like it has been said:

1. Check your fluid level.
2. To make sure your thermostat is working your bottom radiator hose should get hot. But I would check it at the theromostat housing side and not at the radiator side. It may get hot from the radiator itself.
3. Your radiator should be heated evenly. Test its temperature throughout the radiator body. BE VERY CAREFUL. The fan my come on even with the iginition off.
