2001 Accent not going into Overdrive

Here's my problem. First of all, my OBD-2 codes are 0136, 0141, and 1529. I know the first two are my oxygen sensor (bank 1 sensor 2), not sure what the 1529 is.

A little while back, I had a hole in my front flex pipe. I had that replaced. The mechanic that replaced it said that is what "burned out" my o2 sensor. I'm on a tight budget and have not been able to have that replaced yet.

Around the time my o2 sensor went (likely), my car seems to have stopped shifting into overdrive. Driving around town average 80km (50 miles) per hour, it does approx. 3000 rpms. If I take it on the highway, it goes even higher. The light on my dashboard that says "O/D off" NEVER lights up, no matter if the switch is on or off, so going by the dashboard lights, you would think the overdrive is turned on, but it doesn't seem to be. I used to have a bad habit of flicking the O/D switch at red lights for something to do if I was bored, not realizing that's not exactly a wise thing to do. At the time, I didn't even know what "overdrive" was, and when it should be on or off. I never knew how it affected fuel economy, so I thought little of it.

What I was wondering is if the o2 sensor could somehow be responsible for my car not shifting into overdrive, based on the 1529 code, or could I have ruined the switch with my bad habit of flicking it on and off repeatedly? Or could it be something else?

It only has 68000 km. (42000 miles) on it. I had a transmission flush, which never seemed to help anything (the fluid was dark, as opposed to the dark-red/pink color it should be).

I don't know much about the 1529 code. What I was able to find out through searching other web sites is that the 1529 code is a "fail safe" code that holds 3rd gear until you turn off and restart the car. I've turned off and restarted my car numerous times, and it hasn't helped any. That's why I am wondering if my oxygen sensors are triggering the 1529 code as well and keeping my car from going into overdrive.

That's my own evaluation of my problem. I'd love to hear what some of you think it could be, am I correct, am I way off?

Thanks!
Gerald
