Post 1995 Silverado 4x4, 1500,auto, died & does not start!

Help! Incident prior to poblem ia as follows: Auxillary battery from my dual system was removed, drove truck(bad idea!), it began intermitten missing, then back firing, and died and would not start, opened hood to find the auxillary battery cable had shorted to the metal battery mount, it was smoking and insulation was melted. Truck was towed to mechanic, cable with fusable link was replaced and all fuses checked(they were ok), truck would not start, mechanic checked it with computer only code that came up was bad oxygen sensor, replaced oxygen sensor, truck would not start, replaced coil, truck would not start, Hei Module was replaced in distributor, truck would not start. Mechanic gave up! I am truckless and auto rental fees are killing me. Any help would be appreciated! Soon! Thanx!
