Finally Completed - 1:16 Bugatti Royale

WIP thread here: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=532855

This model has both inspired & infuriated me in equal measure. It's a great kit, with full opening panels and was relatively straightforward to build but the body on mine was slightly warped & also had some cracks, which caused no end of problems, and on top of that, once it was repaired, it then rolled off my desk, to land on its roof..... Anyhow, enough complaining from me - here's some pics:

And lastly, next to a Monogram 1:24 Cord & Tamiya 1:24 Mini - it's as wide as the Mini is long!!!!

Hey Paul you did it. Looks great. It really is a monster isnt it. Mine takes up a huge section of my shelf. I glued the doors and hood closed since it was warped also. Otherwise builds into an amazing model.

@kenyap83. Nice Rolls. The Bugatti is an Entex/Bandai/Fuman kit and is usually on ebay (that's where I got mine)

Re: Finally Completed - 1:16 Bugatti Royale

Many thanks for the compliments chaps

Mike - it is indeed huge, even compared to my other 1:16s, and it's nice to finally have some free space on my work desk for some other models

kenyap83 - it is the Bandai / Entex / Fuman kit as Mike says. Unlike the other versions, the Bandai release has the main engine, gearbox & back axle components chromed but to be honest, that finish is way over the top as it would really be polished / machined alloy. Mine was a Fuman release, & I just painted those parts silver / aluminium, which worked very well with the machine-turned texture that is moulded into the engine block.

I like your Rolls Phantom - I have one of these in my to build pile (one day....) & would be very interested to see some engine / interior / chassis pics if you have any

Re: Finally Completed - 1:16 Bugatti Royale

Thank you for your compliments Paul! It is very unfortunate that I do not have pics on the engine as I had glued the bonnet dead. I will try to get some pics of the interior and the chassis for you in the next few days. I will keep a look out in ebay for this car of yours. Can't wait to get hold of one for myself as I think Bugatti is a real beauty. I have seen a Bugatti Baby Royale as well.

If you're interested there's a guy in California who seems to sell quite a few brand new ones of this kit (as well as the Mercer Raceabout from the same series) on eBay:

(PS - I have no connection to this seller)
