Lumbar support busted
2000 z71 ext cab.
I was turning the knob on the lumbar support (driver side) and it deflated. Anybody have this problem? How much trouble would it be to fix? Feels like it's just an airbag inside, but I haven't looked at it yet? |

Re: Lumbar support busted
I think you can remove the cover over the backrest, and have a look at the lumbar support. I alwalys lean up when adjusting that thing
May be something came loose? Maybe time to upgrade to some leather escalade seats ?

Re: Lumbar support busted
Happened to mine too....you can fix it.
Take the seat cover off.....(worst part of the job) The lumbar support is a plastic grid.....there is a cable that goes from the knob to a hole on the top of the plastic. On mine...the plastic broke where the cable connects. I got a piece of aluminum and pop-rivited across the top of the plastic grid.....then drilled a hole for the cable to connect. The cable pulls down on the plastic grid putting a bow in it for lumbar support. There is a stop/holder for the end of the cable housing on the lower part of the seat......I can't remmenber what it looks like....possible a loop. The cable housing must be held by this for the cable to work. The cable is probably still in the holder....so you should be able to see what I'm talking about. |
