My Fiance' has this car and has been telling me lately that she hears the 'door ajar' dinging sound (like when you first put the key in), the door indicator on her dash lights up and her doors try to lock. (Even though they locked themselves after 10mph or whatever the limit is). This is happening more frequently now, hence I am actually looking into it...:-)
Apparently it is random, sometimes when she is turning, over bumps, not turning, really random. So here is my question: I have checked the door switch at the b pillar (if it werent a conv.) and adjusted the door to be sure it is not jarring around. Still have issue. Where is the sensor/relay/dohickey located under the dash? I am assuming that there is a loose connection or a bad sensor/relay, but I cannot find it! Is it an all-in-one Chrysler innovation that will cost me a kidney or something? I have an idea that it is the blue box attached to the wiring harness under the dash, but thought I would ask the pro's before ripping into it any further. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Giuseppe |

Re: 99 sebring conv. door sensor issue
I have a 2000 sebring convertible that the sensor went ballistic and started flashing interior lights like a strobe. The door sensors are on the door jamb just under where the door latches. Usually, it's the driver side sensor, since it gets used more, but since the sensors are only $6 from the auto parts store I replaced them both. They look like a little peg that sticks straight out and can be pushed in, held in place by single phillip screw attached to single wire. Very easy and cheap to replace, took less than ten minutes to do both.
