Me garage door be evil ye mates! EVIL!!!

My garage is pure evil! My garage door has broken 4 times in the last 3 weeks. Every time it breaks in a different way, causing me to play Mr. Fixit for a good ten minutes. But it never breaks when I wanna run out to grab a burger or when I'm being called to some errand boy mission for my family. It only breaks when I'm on my way to class

And it never breaks when my car is on the outside, only once I'm inside... evil bastard.

As much as I may dislike going to class, I still wanna go! I need to perserve all my absences for when I really need em.

So today as I leave out for class, the garage door doesn't open again, this time the motor is going, the proper switches are switched... I can't fix it. I called the service number that I never thought I would have to use and they can't send anybody out til at least 1pm. Unfortunately I have two classes before then.

To top it all off, I saw this guy when I was closing the door!

Aaarrrrggggghhhh mateys!!!! (Don't forget about talk like a pirate day)

Mine won't even let me do it manually right now. The dispatcher lady said it sounds like I have a broken spring. Where that spring might be is a mystery to me. The giant springs along the rails are in tact and connected.

Re: Me garage door be evil ye mates! EVIL!!!

we had the same problem, because our garage door is so heavy (apparently it weights like 1.5-2 tons or something) it just destroys motors, and my neighbour had the same door, and it just made one of the springs snap.

we now have an industrial-grade door motor, dead quiet too. and it seems to be fine.

just park the car outside...

although they look intact they, it could well be the springs. because they're under load contrantly eventually they lose their strength and they stretch to a point where they don't have the strength to sufficiently pull down the hinges to lift the door. when our motor was replaced the springs were also replaced, but it much stronger ones.

Re: Me garage door be evil ye mates! EVIL!!!

The garage guy just left. One of the pulleys was broken so the door went past its stopping point... or something. It was a $25 part plus $84 labor for a half hours work But he said all the problems Ive had over the past weeks were related to the pulley so hopefully I shouldn't have any problems in the near future.

Oh, and I HATE parking on the street cuz my car is the constant victim of scratches, dings, bumper bumps, and bird target practice.

Yes my car falls victim to that as well.
