Axle U-Joints 2000 Jep Cherokee Sport
When I first got this jeep. On this forum I mentioned Shifting clunking
going into drive position. Reverse sounded just fine. At first I thought it was high rpm idle speed. After cking into it' I found my idle speed was ok. Also note that steering through corners turning and wheels returning back was jerky at times. Straight highway travel was normal. Then when I had my first rainy day out with vehicle ' my winshield wipers were jumping and jerking on windshield. I replaced wipers because they did look and feel worn and loose . This seemed to help until next rainstorm outing. Jerky wiper problem was still there. We'll I did figure this one out. Wiper transmission was worn out and wipers were loose to windshield when rotateing. Made appt with my car fixer people and also gave them a note to ck things underneath that u guys always talk about going bad or wearing out. We'll I can say thanks because they found both axle u-joints were bad. I had a factory warranty on vehicle so all I paid was the tax. Thought i,d pass this imfo along. |

Re: Axle U-Joints 2000 Jep Cherokee Sport
On a 2000 Jeep...sounds a little like an upsell for warranty revenue enhancement. We use to look for things like this (very slight leaks, etc.) for a cut of the warranty pie (the mechanic get a small piece, the dealer a bigger chunk).
