clutch problem, please help!!
i have a 1993 v6 camaro and my clutch basically went to hell becuase of old age and a couple clutch dumps here and there so i decided to replace it.
well i spent all weekend taking it apart and replacing it and putting it back together. got it back together and theres basically no pedal. its like the clutch isnt disengaging. you can start the car when its in neutral but you cannot start it when its in gear, both with the clutch pedal in. i tried bleeding the system, and a small amount of air came out but still nothing. maybe im missing something but is there an adjustment screw or something somwhere? anybody have any ideas? any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks |

Re: clutch problem, please help!!
Sorry, can't offer much help other than, I have heard nothing but bad things on how much of a PITA, those hydraulic clutch systems are to get back to working correctly did you check the reseviour to make sure there was enough fluid?.
Someone should chime in soon with a bit more experience. Good luck. |

Re: clutch problem, please help!!
that exact same thing is happening to my friend with a 4 speed fiero. he bought a centriforce dual friction clutch and it worked great, too great and blew his trans case in half at the track along with eating bearings. lol it was ugly, but we pulled it out (it being the whole rear cradle including motor trans suspension and all that good stuff cuz it all comes out together fairly easy) via fork lift. put it back together and bam, clutch dosnt disengage. dunno what it is. the clutch fork or whatever moves far anough and everything is bled right and were stumped. when he drives it via us pushing him to jam it into gear while idling in neutral you can smell the clutch burning. if we find out what happened ill tell ya. but i think its internal. like improper clutch assembly. good luck

Re: clutch problem, please help!!
did you replace the slave cylender and clutch master cylender? ALWAYS replace them when putting a new clutch in.

Re: clutch problem, please help!!
Well, now I don't feel so bad. There was this Crapalier that had the clutch replaced and sat at the shop for months. Finally I me and couple of guys who always wondered why the car was just sitting there had a few extra minutes so we pushed it in and bleed the damn thing all night, got it going for a few days but then went back to the same crap.

Re: clutch problem, please help!!
well at this point i know its hydraulic. i turned the car on and had a friend move the arm the engages the release bearing and it shifted in and out of gear just fine. it seems like there is not enough pressure in the system and so its not strong enough to push the arm.
after we did this i noticed the clutch pedal was a little heavier as well |

Re: clutch problem, please help!!
ok well bad news, my friend fixed his fiero with the same symptoms as you. seems hile we were messing around we werent paying attention to which way we put the clutch in. we but it in backwards.....oops. so yeah that might be your problem. i dont think a fireos cradle has come out as many times as we have pulled his out. i hate redoing work.....
