1998 K1500, 1995 350 swap??
Hi, got a '98 1/2 ton 4x4 with a tired 350. Wondering if a 350 from a '95 Tahoe will work. The tahoe has been rolled and the drive train is good. I'm wondering if I can re-do the heads and slap them onto the older block. Anyone have any advice or problems or plain and simple road blocks, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

to my knowledge the block is the same, but the heads, intake and fuel injection system is different.

Thanks Horse482. That's what my thoughts were too. I'm crunching the numbers as far as price goes between the used engine and buying a crate. If anyone knows different, please share your knowledge.

Quote:
is the 98 engine a vortec and the 95 a throttle body? If I had a vortec 350... I would want to replace it with a similar vortec 350. If you had a throttle body engine it would be an upgrade to install the vortec. The vortec and throttle body engines have different fuel pumps, and I'm sure the wiring harness is different. The best solution is to swap out a motor thats a direct replacement or buy a crate engine from GM..... if you want to replace the entire engine. |
