Where Do The Problems Lie With Cavaliers?
We just picked up a 98 LS Cavalier with only 24K on the clock...
Had it about a week now and it's been running great! I've notice that the brakes feel a little rough when it first gets driven in the morning, then smooths out after driving a bit. There does seem to be a steady pulsing feel when coming to a stop. This weekend I'll pull all the wheels and check the condition of the brakes. What are some common problems with the 98 Cavs (not just brakes)? Thanks! Scott

Sounds like brakes/tires to me. U got urself a pretty reliable car there with low km's enjoy it.

the answer to ur question.......pretty much everything is wrong with the cavalier. brakes are proly some of the most notorious. the suspension is shitty, interior is crap. they are known for faulty thermostats and other such little things. 2200 engine is worthless for performance purposes. it was the cheapest car chevy built in its time and they sure made it feel like it also. many ppl on here love their cars though and i like mine too so dont think im dissing on them too bad, im just stating how it is..... cavy's are great cars, they just are built with cheaper parts and with price on mind.

I've checked the recalls and they've all been done.
The brakes are next on the list to check out. As far as the "cheapness" of the car, all I can say it that Chevy designed it as nothing more than a reliable commuter car... as far as I'm concerned, they've achieved that goal. As far as the performance aspect goes... I'll leave that up to my 74 Nova with it's 383 Stroker and factory 4-speed!  Scott
