Re: Porsche 911 GT3

It's a terrific kit, builds up great out of the box. Have fun with it. The body is easy to paint (no sharp corners!), and the fit is perfect. The best advice I can offer is:

1- Strip the chrome of the wheels and repaint them in matte aluminum or similar. The real wheels are brushed alloy, not chrome, and chrome makes this build look very plastic toy-like when done.

2- Go easy on the panel lines! If you're doing the body in something bright (like yellow), often it's best to skip the panel lines all together than make them too dark. Big, black trenches for panel lines is mistake often seen on this kit, and it never looks good.

Otherwise, good luck, have fun, and post your progress!

Re: Porsche 911 GT3

ugh, I've found my 911 GT3 to be a pain in the arse. While everything else has been fine, the wing and the smoked front and rear tailights were a pain to paint and look proper.

Thumbs up Re: Porsche 911 GT3

yea although it looks pretty simple it is a pain. i havnt found a good color for my impala's body so i just been working on this one, i didnt like the yellow, so im painting it italian red. this is what i got so far. do you think metallic black would look good on a 64 impala?

Re: Porsche 911 GT3

Italian Red looks good. My GT3 is one of the last models I painted in enamel. Its Guards Red. It was also one of the first models where I painted the panel lines. I painted them black and the lines obnoxiously stand out. I post pics soon. It didn't turn out too bad, but I'm glad to be done with it. I don't like Porsches with big wings.

Re: Porsche 911 GT3

The chassis looks terrific. The underside masking and painting is maybe the most difficult task in this kit. Give the engine a dark wash, and maybe pick out the oil filter and the transmission & oil pan bolts in black and it will look spectacular.

Re: Porsche 911 GT3

Hmmmmmmm...The Left one is more like the Porsche GT3. But it's a question of taste.
Awesome job on your chassis, can't wait to see more!
