catalytic converter
i have an 94 suburban 2wd with 5.7 engine. i need to know how you can tell if a converter is possibly clogged and what ailments it gives an engine. i've done numerous things to it after timing chain replacement. plugs, wires, coil, distributor, cap and rotor but it does not have the punch it had before. also the timing is on point at O degrees.

Re: catalytic converter
0 degrees with the EST connector disconnected, right?
Usually, you will see lower fuel economy and lower performance. The warmer the cat gets, the worst it gets. I have heard (but not seen) that they will glow red in the dark if they are bad (because they get so hot when clogged). A back pressure test can help diagnose a clogged cat. How many miles on the converter? //2000CAYukon |

Re: catalytic converter
yes the connector was disconnected. i think it has about 130k on it. although it's been sitting for 2.5 yrs, about 3.5 to 4 yrs ago it was using alot of oil and was weak in quite a few cylinders. so i had the engine removed and rebuilt. there was no oil leaking on ground and it was not smoking out the tail.
