Head Unit

Whats a good H/U for under $300? I'm partial to Kenwood, Pioneer, Eclipse & Alpine but i'm game for any opinions. I have a pioneer (DEH-P4000) right now but the CD took a crap on me, should I just get it fixed?

I would think any of those brands would be good - alpines tend to skip less. Don't bother getting a cheap deck fixed, they generally aren't worth it.

the Kenwood Excelon (if you buy the right one) is a pretty good deck.

Panisonic also tend to be very good units. I have a Bluapunkt right now, but would rather have Pioneer\Alpine\Panisonic
