Need help on figuring out what turbo to go with
I'm fabing up a remote mount turbo kit for my buddies 6.0L 93 Z28. I'm kind of using the sts kit as a blue print but with that kit you cant use long tube headers and I believe you need to ditch the a/c. Any one have a clue what turbo to use with a 6L? I'm thinking gt40 area?
EDIT: On the sts kit they use a to4e 60-1 .81 A/R but that is figured for a 5.7

Single turbo? As big as you can find man.
![]() Hard to say, that thing will have even a GT40 spooled basically instantly. IIRC E Klips is running a GR42r and spools around 4500. I would hook him up TT style and run a pair of GT35's. |

no room for twins otherwise that would be my choice to. I found a couple gt45's on line. hes only shooting for less than 900hp so that will be plenty

Re: Need help on figuring out what turbo to go with
You will need to go bigger than the gt40 series. Running a single turbo off 8 cylinders will spool way faster than you guys would imagine... What kind of power is he wanting to build after turbocharging it? Also, is the motor built to take some abuse? Because I have a few turbos on the top of my head you guys could throw at it and it would be ridiculously powerful.

Re: Need help on figuring out what turbo to go with
fully built 383 stroker, forged pistons rods and crank with a 9.2:1 compression ratio. His bottom end will handle upwards of 1000hp. He would be extactic to see anything more than 700-800. I personally think the gt42 or 45s will be more than enough considering STS uses 60-1 with a .81A/R at 7psi to get almost 400

Re: Need help on figuring out what turbo to go with
I'd go with the 42r. It will easily get him his goal and it will spool quickly. Its all about the exhaust housing too. Larger exhaust housing will increase lag but allow better flow up top. Go with the GT4202r with an 1.15A/R turbine housing.

Re: Need help on figuring out what turbo to go with
I think we've kind of decided on a t67-t72 range for starters

Re: Need help on figuring out what turbo to go with
Is this beast going to be carb'd or fuel injected? Why did he opt to go with a turbo over a blower?
