You mean the plastic engine bay cover underneath? If that's what you mean it's not a skidplate. I don't have a CAI but I would suggest that you not cut the cover underneath to help prevent any water ingestion.

No you don't cut the skid plate. Depending on what kind of CAI you get really. I guess the injen one is drill free, but its also like 200 dollars more 150 if your lucky. I have a PR CAI its actually a very simple install, you will need to drill a 3.25" inch hole above the wheel well, under the hood right next to the fender wall. template makes that easy. I drilled my rather crappily with a dremel tool and a little disc on the end, wish I had, had a 3.25" hole saw drill thing....but anyway after that you run the provided leather strap around the edge of the cut for 1. makeing the pipe snug and 2. helps keep crap out and prevent scrapping of the pipe, to prevent rust you can just take some clear coat and spray it around the edges I put about 3 or 4 coats on, then the strap, and bam shits fuggen mean.

Talking its up 2 you

its up to you if u wana cut it or not.if u do its easy u can do it w/ a razor blade cux its soft plastick......i cut mineright where it starts to bend up into the fender.no water yet....i heer that if you remove your fog light it lets more air in if you got a year w/ the fogs down there like a 97 98 99....do what you think is best!

He's referring to the liner underneath the engine not the fender well where you are supposed to drill.

Ravq is right

Don't cut that S#$@ (plastic lining under the car), unless you want to swallow alot of water thought the intake. Or just don't drive through puddles!!! j/k!

What does everyone think of the CAI? I hear that they are more trouble than they are worth...

I was reading somewhere that the CAI gets more power on the low end, but the Stillen Intake gets more power at the top end... how is that possible??
