car pulls to the right

yesterday me and my dad test drove a 96 z26, but it pulled to the right and when accelerating hard it kinda jumped to the left when shifting up. could it be a cv joint or axle or maybe a bad swaybar I'm not sure and we didn't have much time to check what it was. is it a cheap fix or do you think I shouldn't buy the car at all.

Re: car pulls to the right

The pulling in different direction under a thrust load can indicate a loose lower control arm, strut, or lower "A" frame bushings. The CVs are not likely to impart such thrust on the front wheels.

I'd investigate thoroughly before making a decision, with the understanding that there will be some repairs necessary to make the car roadworthy. One way to check is to have an assistant set the parking brake adn hold the service brake, then move the transmission alternately from DRIVE to REVERSE, and possibly apply some throttle to increase the load while you watch the suspension and steering on both front wheels. Any parts that move obviously will need attention. As mentioned earlier, start with the lower control arm mountings and struts, but also check the steering tie rod ends and steering rack itself.

Re: car pulls to the right

thanks for your reply. I'm checking the car out again on saturday to see what's wrong with it. And the car is not so expensive, so I should have enough money left to fix it
