street drag radials or drag slicks?

which one would give me better traction and better times? i know with slicks, with my stong stang, i wouldnt even spin but how about time? would those slicks slow me down in the middle or not?

which one do you guys suggest me to get? also i got 18'' wheels.. can i find slicks which would fit on my wheels? because with wheels, they sell them pretty expensive...

Re: street drag radials or drag slicks?

Luos was running Drag Radials on his WS6. Why would you want slicks on a stock car?

Re: street drag radials or drag slicks?

Slicks won't work well for you. I am sure you could make them work with a stock car, but you will be putting a ton of stress on the driveline. Most likely bog off the line as well.
I would recommend a drag radial. Maybe the BFG.

You reason you can't find them in 18's is because they are almost pointless that big. You don't have any sidewall to help give when you launch with a 18 inch wheel/tire.
That is why I went with the 15" wheels for the drag set-up on mine. Much more sidewall.

Luos has to run Nitto DR's on the street. I can't hook up at all on a street tire.

Re: street drag radials or drag slicks?

so with a set of drag radials would i get some 1.8 60' on my stock car? i mean i can launch that thing sometimes.. not all the time..

also DR radials wouldnt fit on my 18'' wheels right? so how about my formulas 16'' wheels with drag radials? can i use them on my stang? fron 18'' wheels stock tires and back 16'' wheels and drag radials? would that work?

or can you give me the best drag set up for me? i will not mod. my car untill next summer. cuz there is no pint, winter is coming and i gotta drive this car in winter.. and my first mod. will be whipple intercooled supercharger.. (already talked to them and they will finance )

also if i get a set of good drag radials on my 18'' wheels, would i get better traction still or because of big wheels, i would spinn anyway?

thaks.. come pro. drag racers.. i need you

Re: street drag radials or drag slicks?

You need less wheel and more sidewall to get really good traction.
Gonna be hard on a 17/18 inch wheel.

Your Formula wheels will NOT fit your Mustang.
Drag radials should only be ran in the summer. They have horrible wet traction and no snow traction.

You want more traction?? Suspension.

Re: street drag radials or drag slicks?

Yeah, that works.

I am sure you can find an 18 inch DR.
Well...maybe not.
Just checked tirerack and didn't see anything in your size.

I have raced mine with different sized wheels. It is fine as long as the tire height it the same.

Re: street drag radials or drag slicks?

Cordova is about 950 miles from my home.
It is about 20 miles from the city I was born in. I still have a ton of family out there, so next time I am out that way....

You are gonna have to research what size tires you can run on the rear of your car.
I had to do some modding to the rear brake calipers to fit a 15" wheel back there.
But a 16" wheel fits no problem. But that would have been a loss of 1" sidewall.
