like turreto said

"For those 10 seconds or more, i'm free" or whatever he said

more like

"for those 14 seconds or more, nothing else matters, only the pounding of my heart in tune with my rpm, the sound of engines reving to redlines, the exaust creating a mellow rumble to a sudden thunderous roar, the push of the acceleration keeping me in my seat, the look of the other persons facewhen in my sideview, followed by the look of their car fading into the rearview." :bandit:

I need a smoke :hehe:

I dont bother racing because my car is faster then anything out there. Its a waste of my gas. Actually I value my liscence and cheap insurance to much.

Exclamation be careful.....

You had better be careful of what you say. Don't start a flame war!

I've beaten a 5.0 before in my old Trans Am.

So be careful what you say domestic.

But license and insurance is a good reason not too!

I'm not a huge fan of streetracing, but I did it last night, because I found someone that would race me. Generally people don't

I raced a turboed Supra (assuming it was). We weren't able to get a run from a stop, which I would have found very interesting. I've never raced a supra from a stop before, so we had to settle for a few rolling goes.

When I first found him, I pulled up by and past him to see if he was interested in racing. He followed me through what traffic he could, and did a flyby of me, and slowed down. I thought it only correct of me to do the same, so I shifted from 4th to 2nd and did the same. After this, I noticed that he was going to try the same thing again, and this time I shifted to try and match his speed. With him being on the gas and already spooling, he pulled ahead of me as we race to between 100-110mph from a 40 mph start. He ended up about 3-4 cars ahead of me. I really would have liked to have raced him from a stop, but I can only do what I can do. I gave him a big thumbs up, and we went our separate ways, partially because this time I was in front of my apartment complex. Nothing wrong with a good race, I lost, so what...

As much as I would rather race on a track, I'm not against the occassional streetrace. Just gotta be smart about it.

Thumbs up good effort

I'm sure from a start that your camaro probably would of had em. GM's sports car seem to have great starts.

That's how I beat most of the Stang's that I raced. They aren't that fast from a stop but they get good pickup once their RPM's get high.

It's hard to judge a rolling start on who wins. Cause if he was already making the advance then that means that you would have to catch up the the momentum that he was already going and then pass that. Very tough without a bottle or something like that to get enough horses to do it in such a short time.

Exactly. I was just coming home last night from being out, so it really didn't matter to me. He had the momentum, I wanted to go fast, so I jumped on it. No biggie, I just hope that I see him around town again. There are three bad ass supras in Lawrence, so that makes one that I've been able to try.

Yup, the one that I raced last night was yellow, another is silver, and one is black. Those are the three that I recall offhand. The yellow looked nice, the guy obviously took good car of it and put money into it. The silver one has alot of work done to it: body kit, engine work, exhaust, looked good as well. The black one I've only seen once, and it was last semester, so I don't remember it too well.

Gees, lighten up a bit. By the way I have beaten a T/A as well. And I will be especially careful what I say since you said so.

It's all good. From the beginning to all eternity there will always be a fight between who is faster domestic or imports.

For right now everyone is just gonna have to agree to disagree. It's the driver who makes the difference.
But every good racer has to be a little bit cocky at times. I just didn't want this to turn into an argument. I just wanted to see if everyone has basically the same reasons for racing.

i didnt vote cause...

no girl has ever thought my car was cool enough to date me... plus women are just added weight... every 100lbs is a tenth off your 1/4 time!

i dont need to race my car to get an adrenaline rush... i just need to start it. Gotta love Cam over lap!

i like having my license, and insurance is high enough with 2 vehicles at the age of 19... i dont need anything else to make it go higher.

I really dont need to race, i already know i can hold my own against 90% of the cars on the street.

Not to mention my car spends 98% of its life in the backyard cause something is always going wrong. My car is a problem child, but i'll eventually have thrown enough money at it... it'll be like new again.. AHhhh the wonders of Restoration.

Im sure your car is fast, but just remember that there is always someone out there on the road that is faster. Have you run your stang at the track? I know a Crx that would give you a decent run. Its a daily driver, gets 20 mpg and is tagged. He has beaten my other friends 93 LX stang that runs consistent 12.50s. Couldnt tell what the CRX runs though. He refuses to tell us.

I street race my car on occasion to give all the younger kids with slow cars something to think about... Hmm that car looked stock but yet my huge wing, intake, exhaust and washer lights didnt give me the edge. how can that be?
