Question Oil Catch tank

I sort of understand what they do, but do they have any effect on performace?? And if I were to get one should I get the 9mm or 15mm hose along with a bracket?

Re: Oil Catch tank

get a two dollar inline fuel filter from your local parts store. Run it the way the arrows point. It helps keep oil out of your intake system and reduce it's cooling efficiency.

Re: Oil Catch tank

Will one of these also help get rid of that black smoke that comes out of my exhaust at higher rpm

Re: Oil Catch tank

I have read that over a period of time it can become clogged up with trash and possibly have something to do with lack of performance.Im sure there is a way to clean it out some how I just wouldnt have the balls to rip my engine apart....I still owe money on the car

no that's a rich fuel mixture. Many causes, most likely a boost leak.

Re: Oil Catch tank

hes right, most likely is a boost leak. car thinks it has more air... and adds fuel... but it really doesnt have the air because of the leak. causing for rich burn, and black smoke. I.E. bad gas milage + poor performance

Re: Oil Catch tank

My car has always done that (black smoke) and when I got it the car was stock except the exhaust system and I did all the other mods myself. So I'm not shure where the boost leaque would becomeing from but I do have a hole in my stock intercooler a little smaller than golf ball so I dont know if that would have any effect.

Still big enough for air to escape.
