Question Driveshave install questions

Hey guys.
I have a 1-piece ACPT driveshaft on the way. Anyone install a 1-piece (or any drifeshaft for that matter) in their 3/s? Am i going to need to drop the rear end? Am i gonna need fluid for the rear end? Am i gonna need transfer case fluid?

Re: Driveshave install questions

Not entirely sure, as I havn't done it myself, but it would seem to me it would be pretty easy, either drop the t-case, or the rear, or both. I've heard if you keep the t-case tilted up, you wont lose all hte fluid, but I'd still expect to lose a decent amount. Personally, I'd just replace the fluid in both, it takes an additional 10 minutes, and definantly is good for your drivetrain. I have already done it once, and plan to every 30k, just to keep it going smoothly.

Check out stealth316, under 'garage' and 'awd drivetrain oil change'

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: Driveshave install questions

simple

STEP1 Raise and support the car
STEP2 remove the eight bolts/nuts holding drive shaft to the car
(2 on each carrier bearing and 4 on the end by the diff)
STEP3 remove old shaft being carful not to damage the T-case seal
STEP4 apply some gear lube to the yoke of the new driveshaft and insert
in to t-case
STEP5 reinstall 4 bolt by the rear diff and top off fulid as needed

Total time 15min
