d16z6 top out horsepower?

i know that the d16z6 SOHC VTEC engine is still used in drag cars its just not as good as, say, a b16. but does anyone know or can find links that have proof of d16z6 high horsepower? is it logical to get 400 hp with turbo?

You are stretching it with 400 HP. Maybe if you redid the bottom end, did some block work, super amounts of head porting etc etc. but I have seen these motors claim around 300-320 HP with turbo kits. I have witnessed one in real life spank plenty of V8s and some other turboed imports at street races though. Guy had it in a stripped 88 hatch, running the greddy kit w/ IC at like 14 lbs of boost. Watching his car, i would guesstimate low/ mid 11s.

Check this forum out: http://pub34.ezboard.com/bhondadseries It's dedicated to modifiying the D series engines. There's quite a few people running 12-13sec 1/4miles with anything from NA, Supercharged, Turbo, N20, and there's even a guy turning his D16 into a full on nitro burning beast.

ZC turbo is the way to go.

The b16 wont be able to keep up.

Vtec was never meant for turbo.

What makes you say that a b series motor was not made for turbo. There are plenty of people making huge power numbers on Vtec b series motors.
