New downpipe

Alright guys, so yesterday, my mom informed me that she has started to notice some rust spots on the driveway right underneath where I park the car. So, About 15 min ago, I went to take a quick look under the car to see if I could spot anything. I noticed that the flex section on the downpipe has some rust on it, and so does the flanges. I don't think it is effecting the exhaust, but if my parents think so, I can upgrade haha.

So, my question to you is, which downpipe do you prefer? My 2 choices I am looking at right now are the RRE 2.5-3", or the full 3" Megan one.

I like the idea of the RRE one because you can get either the long, or short version. The long is, well, long, but the short version has an extra flange so you can bolt up a highflow cat, or testpipe, for whatever reason needed. Plus, RRE uses the same flange as the Apexi N1, so there is absolutely no fitment questions about it. Downside, it is a little pricy.

Now, the Megan one is CHEAP. It can be had for ~$150. But, it is full 3" through. Would that even bolt up to the stock o2 housing? Would that be overkill? I know Megan had some fitment problems with their first model 2g awd dp, but I heard they fixed it.

What say you guys?

PS. I don't have emmissions down here in Florida, so I don't need a cat.

Get the Megan one. Yes it will bolt up (starts off at ~2.5" and opens up to 3" after a few inches). If you were a 1g awd and I was back home, I have a spare Apexi cat delete pipe I would sell you...

Definately the Megan. I had it on my 95 and it was a great pipe.

How would those prices compare to a custom downpipe? I got my car with the full custom exhaust already on so that's why I was wondering.

Depends on the welder... I would personally never pay as much for a custom exhuast as a brand one.

Also just wanted to interject that the megan DP looks like its made wayyy better than the apexi. The megan is shiney and the welds are clean. The apexi welds dont look as nice and it seems to have a couple extraneous bends in there.

I heard from a friend of mine that the Megan dp won't directly bolt up to the Apexi n1. Can anyone confirm this?

I know the Apexi is 3" and has an adaptor that necks down to connect to the stock cat. When I get the downpipe, the adapter comes out. The thing is though, that I heard the Megan pipe doesn't meet in the same position as the Apexi system starts. I tried researching this, but no definate answers. I currently have an email to Megan, SBR, and another company that is currently selling the downpipe asking about the fitment. We shall see.....

keep in mind some 3" all throughout downpipes will rub against the oil pain getting your oil extremely hot
