93 grand cherokee 4.0L front differential noise

There is a loud whining noise coming from the front of the car. Its constant with speed. Starts around 3mph on up. It doesnt pop or anything, just whines really loud. I changed both front wheel bearings, cv axles, fluid in both front and rear differentials and also the transfer case. There was no metal shavings present. It never made any noise when the car was purchased. It just gradually got louder. Its got around 200,000 miles. It still drives great with no steering problems. It sounds more like a bearing but i dont know which one. Help!!!

MORE INFO, please.

OK, is it all the time under all conditions or just under load or deceleration/coast?

a constant whining noise woudl either be a bad wheel bearing(s) or differential bearings.

whining under load would be a bad Rear Pinion Bearing.
Whining when at a coast would be caused by bad front PINION BEARING.

When replacing any bearings in the differential it is a good habit to replace them all.

It does it all the time unless you are sitting still. But when you rolling at all, it whines, and really loud. Noise Only comes from the front diff. What all is involved in changing both pinion bearings?

Are the bearings pressed on the pinion?

Yes they are pressed onto the pinion shaft, It does not seem very hard to replace, I have torn mine apart, i need to replace as well, I don't notice my whine til about 40mph.
You need to remove the wheels, caliper, rotors and wheel bearings (with axleshaft atached) then remove the driveshaft from the fornt yoke, then remove the nut holding the yoke onto the pinion shaft, remove the diff cover and drain the fluid, remove the bolts (4) holding the diff case in place pull the diff case out and remove the pinon shaft.

NOTE: onl 1 of the bearings is pressed on, the other is not.

Thanks, I'll jump on it first thing tomorrow. I've Never had this kind of problem before. First jeep also. Only worked on mustangs, mostly fox bodies. Good time for a change.
