can 73 chevy c-10 win?

im building a 73 c-10 with the following specs...

350 smallblock bored .030 over with crank from a 400 smallblock... comes out to be a little over 383 cubes, with 500lb/ft of torque and 450horsepower at the crank

is 2x4 about 4500 pounds with posi 12 bolt rear, though rear end ratio is unknown as of this time

turbo400 automatic tranny with transpak kit and 2000rpm stall speed torque converter

my question here is can this combo spank a modern-day hemi, i think its the 5.7 hemi you guys have right? what do you guys think... im not trying to start dodge versus chevy shit or nothing just wanting an honest opinion from the people who know dodges the best... their drivers...

lol im pretty sure the srt-10 would for sure kick my truck in the nuts lol, with that freakin viper motor and all...

hes not done yet it seems like. I would rather just try things though and loose instead of waste my time getting peoples opinions and then not bother trying. Trying is the fun part. But overall I don't know much about the hemis I drive a 2nd generation small block.

Re: can 73 chevy c-10 win?

i think when its done that it might be able to beat that viper truck, but that all depends on how much it weighs, cause that v-10 has more power than my motor will have. mine will be pretty light, from the factory it was under 4000 pounds, in addition to the fact that i have replacement panels that are thinner than crap lol... dang japanese crap-steel... the only thing not new as for body pieces is the cab lol... i might gain all the weight back though with the cage above the rear end for barbell-weights to be slid in for more traction.

Re: can 73 chevy c-10 win?

lol!!!! actually, with the right tires, i bet it will be pretty fast. the curb weight will end up being under 4000 pounds, since back then the big 3 could make a decently light truck do just as much as some newer trucks lol, GM must be crazy selling 8000 pound h1's lol how the hell do they manage to put that much weight in that freakin shoebox lol

Re: can 73 chevy c-10 win?

Looking at your smallblock specs I wonder, why bother with such an expensive build. Why not go to the junkyard and pick up an old Cadillac 472 or 500, install a new cam and a good 4-bbl intake, headers and 850 cfm Holley. Use a adapter to hook up a Turbo 400, add a shift kit and have a low budget BIG block tire burner?
Just to start you could put the stock Cad engine in your truck with the Turbo 400 and burn a lot of rubber. Then you could increase you power in stages as the budget allowed. I know a guy who put a Cad 472 in his Chev 1/2 ton. It is like trying to drive on ice there is so much low end torque.

Re: can 73 chevy c-10 win?

lol too late... my 383 arrived in a crate 2 days ago and is now chillin' in my garage... It aint all that expensive compared to buying a ready to run engine that would probably be 10 grand for how much power mines gonna make. i think the total cash im dropping is 4 grand on the motor, and about 15 to 20 grand total on the entire truck lol
