Grand Prix 2 dr. coupe production?

I've noticed there doesn't seem to be any late model 04-06 2dr. coupes in the Grand Prix line. Were they discontinued or just very rare? Last year I have seen was 03 I think?

That is correct. The '04 and up models are 4 door sedan only. Pontiac ceased production of the 2 door coupe for the 2003 model year. 2002 was the last year.

Because they are idiots. How can a company sell more cars than anytime in their history and still lose $8 billion?

Re: Grand Prix 2 dr. coupe production?

Thanks for the answer on that bnaylor...That's really a shame now that they got the body lookin right finally. I had been thinking of buying but wanted a coupe, I like the look better. I don't like the Monte. I suspect it is more likely due to dealer not ordering the 2dr coupes in large enough numbers to continue the business model and cost cutting combined. If it were up to me haha! I would bring back the Buick Skylark Convertable and Chevy Belair convertable and Impala coupe SS, Pontiac Sky Chief as (Grand Prix convertable).

You're welcome. I guess it is in the big scheme of things for GM, whatever that may be.

From what I understand 2002 was the last model year where the Third Gen Grand Prixs were made at the U.S. Kansas plant. For 2003 models GM moved assembly up to Canada to Oshawa where the other GM "W" body cars were made like the Buick Regal (discontinued, now LaCrosse). So the marketing decision to discontinue making 2 door coupes was made early on.

Whatever marketing decisions GM is making leaves alot to be desired and part of their problems.

Re: Grand Prix 2 dr. coupe production?

Well the times they are a changin', GM and Ford stuggling to come to grips with their toubles are said to be talking merger or other such relationship. Is this a blind leading the blind...? D-C seems to have made some good moves since the takeover by Daimler but Daimer produced high end design and engineering. What would Ford bring to GM or visa versa? This could be fun to watch.
