99 Alero V6 3400 Blower Modes

New to this Forum. My daughter's Alero is having some problems with its Blower Modes. Air seems to come thru the floor and dash vents in all modes. The force thru the dash vents never changes. You can here a change when put in full defrost mode and air does come out the defrost vents ok. When switched to full dash vents the flow is not full force. She noticed this sometime after the Blower Resistor was replaced. I checked the vacuum hose under the hood and it seemed ok. I don't here any hissing frm under the dash when switching modes so I suspect it's something partially blocking one of the flappers. How do I get to them?
Have had most of the problems as you guys with exception to the Bearings and Sensors. 84,000 miles and no problems there yet. I going to replace the Front Strut Mounts next week. I here the squeaking from the drivers side. I'm also getting a clunking when going over harsh bumps. Sieems to be from both sides. Would this be the Strut mounts also or maybe tie-rod ends. Everything in steering seems very tight and responsive. I would appreciate any help.

Re: 99 Alero V6 3400 Blower Modes

Normally when you only have airflow to the floor and defrost vents is a loose or defective accessory vacuum line. Maybe the line feeding into the dash was disconnected when the blower motor resistor was installed.

On the noise the upper strut mount/load bearing is a common problem on Aleros and since you plan on replacing the struts it would be a good idea to replace the upper mounts.

Welcome to AF.
