Re: remove governor from saturn
new ECU would fix the problem.
there are people out there who will build you a custom ECU with no top speed limiter. depends how much you wanna spend i guess |

Re: remove governor from saturn
Old trick we used to use was to put a switch on the vss wire, switch it off when your getting close to the cut off speed, once you slow back down switch it back on. I'm not real sure if this will work, I hear it works on newer stuff, but honestly I dont know -this was on preobd stuff, and it was speed limited not rev limited. Like said above you could probably find someone to flash you a new prom or tune your ecu, theres pretty strong scene around the saturns- you just have to look around for it.

They are put on there for good saftey reasons. Unless you have a good reason to remove it and have improved your safey equipment on your car. It would be better to leave it as is. MT

Re: remove governor from saturn
What type of tires are you running? If you have stock tires on your Saturn, I would strongly caution against going above 112 MPH, stock tires (non-speed rated) HAVE A VERY HIGH LIKELYHOOD OF EXPLODING AT AT SPEEDS OVER 112 MPH.
That being said, if you do want to remove the limiter, consider buying higher speed rated tires for your car. By the way, with a stock engine and chassis, you won't be able to get your car to go that fast anyways, the car would lose out against wind resistance and road friction early on. Like MT said, keep it how it is - for your own safety. |

They are recommended to not exceed 112mph for *extended periods*, but are more than capable of exceeding 112mph. Much different language there. As for the limiter. Disabling the VSS would definitely work, but it'll throw a code, of course, and might cause the tranny to go into limp mode. They sell VSS data modifiers that are pretty cheap that will take the VSS signal and modify it by a percentage....ie, you could reduce the signal feed by 10% and this would fool the computer into thinking the car was going 10% slower than it actually was....this of course, would also cause the speedo to be 10% off.
