starting in second gear?? automatic....
i have a 94 4.3 automatic S10 Blazer. When its in Drive it has NO pickup whats so ever from a stop. It seems like it is starting in 2nd gear instead of first like it should because the FIRST time it shifts is around 50-55 mph! which i know 1st gear isn't that long lol. when im on a little bit of an incline in Drive it rolls backward a little bit before it starts moving forward (kinda like a standard would) it also seems like reverse doesn't grab well either, not as bad though. once it gets up to speed and shifts to second or third which ever not sure? it seems fine. Is my transmission bad?

Re: starting in second gear?? automatic....
I just went out and looked and smelled the transmission fluid.... It looked like new fluid. It was nice and red and clear also. but it had a burnt odor to it. Not horribly bad (not sure how bad horribly is? like knock your socks off or what?) i know this could probably be the cause of my problem, but could my problem be causing this? b/c i have driven it a few times (really short distances of about a mile or so).

Re: starting in second gear?? automatic....
Read this stuff in the FAQ section on transmissions:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=461182 There are solenoids for each shift and then the weak link, the Sun shell that takes out reverse, 2nd and 4th so a strange sensation to drive - broke one! |

Re: starting in second gear?? automatic....
Will it manually go into first gear?
From a stop put it in 1,,,,then 2,,,then 3. See if you can shift it manually.

Re: starting in second gear?? automatic....
I would be looking into the VSS.
Sounds like it is giving the wrong signal to the computer. Also, any check engine lights?
