97 venture Crank sensor
My 97 venture has been a nightmare in the last few months. Have had the issues with overheating and ended with having the head gaskets replaced. Thought all was well until the van started sputtering while driving, sometimes hesitating and dying when stopping at a light. Fuel pump was replaced did no good. Check engine light was on and got code saying it was the Crank sensor, so the mechanic I take it to put in two aftermarket sensors and they wouldn't work so he got one from the dealer and cleared the code. Again we thought all was fine but the next day van started doing the same thing and check engine light was back on reading the same code. The mechanic checked all wiring to the sensor and suggested replacing the coil pack, he did that today but the car is still cutting out when idling and dying.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

One thing to try before the pressure is checked, is to pull the hose off the top of the regulator, is it filled with gas? If so its the regulator forsure.... |

Re: 97 venture Crank sensor
Thank you for the suggestion.
I took the van to another mechanic and since the car was still showing a code for the crankshaft sensor he checked the sensor only to find it had NEVER been changed! He put in a new sensor and van runs fine now, he saved the one he took out and showed me that it was in no way a new part. The other mechanic got $250 for nothing. My service engine came on again but is showing a code for the AC, he does think it could have some electrical issues but it isn't sputtering or dying like it was. |

Re: 97 venture Crank sensor
Umm, I assume you will confront this " mechanic" with the evidence?

Re: 97 venture Crank sensor
Absolutely! I paid him to do a job and he didn't do it.
