easy 12-second chevelle...

Is anyone running a 12-second chevelle with a small block and no nitrous?

I'm running a 71 with a 350, good heads, 3:73 posi, roller cam, 10:1 compression, 750 dp holley, but I can only get a 13.6.

I've seen many chevelle with 4:11's and a good 350 run 12's. Any suggestions?

Re: easy 12-second chevelle...

I'd think that you could use a little more compression ratio first of all. Something around 12:1 or 12.5:1 would be a start. And how well that plays with your cam, carb etc. The chassis plays a big role too, you can have all the power in the world but if you can't plant it, it goes to waste.

Start asking around at the local track or reading up on it in Super Chevy or other car mags. 13.6 is not too shabby and you should be able to make a big jump in your 12 second quest, the last few tenths will drive you mad though, so be warned.
