1999 Mercury Sable Battery Light Staying on

I changed the battery and the battery light is still on could there be another problem or is there something i need to do to have the light turned off
please help Its my only car to get my daughter back aforth to school

Why the light is on

Loose belt
Faulty alternator
Bad connections, battery cables, plug to the alternator
Blown fuse in the charging circuit
Bad battery (new doesn't always mean good)

Call the local chain auto parts stores and see if any of them provide free testing.

Bring the vehicle to an Autozone where they can test for FREE the alternator and battery while it's on the car.
