Re: 2.2L upgrade

sell ur car, get 2-3k for it, save 3k that u would be spending on the engine and tranny and just buy a 03-05 cavy w/ an eco and a manual. it would be a WHOLE lot easier, and more than likely a lot more reliable. hell ill even sell u mine, the k.b.b. is 5700.

Re: 2.2L upgrade

Some 02's have eco's in them too, or you could sell the car as is and buy an 00-02 with the 2200 engine, but doing all that to a 95 2.2 is a complete waste and I know this first hand, I wasted about $3,000 trying to fix up a 96 2.2, biggest mistake I've made.

Re: 2.2L upgrade

wow, who woulda thought chevy would have made a "collector" cavalier....weird. i would even try to find a cobalt w/ a 2.4 and boost that. pretty sure that would be a MEAN ecotec....

Re: 2.2L upgrade

now to answer you're question, the 2200's have 5 less horsepower then your engine, and i THINK (i said think) thats cuz of their intake, (something to do with that black plastic box that says 2200 on it) so you dont want one of those, and i know the ecotec and z24 intakes wouldnt work, like they already said, you'd be much better off just buying a new car, it would be easier, it WOULD be more reliable, it would cost probably the same (especially if you're gonna do the auto to manual conversion) and it would be worth more

Re: 2.2L upgrade

Well money is not the biggest problem. I thing is this my my Fiance's car and her Dad bought it for her just before he died so is the sentemential value. We have decied to turn it in to more of a show car. But the engine is headed south alreadt so i want to give it new life. With more pep and a little better performace. I have thought about a JDM engine out of something like a Type R. But thats proble more than i want to takcle. I would like to stay in the GM family. And this car is in Mint condidtion for a 95 just the engien and trans are taking a dump on it. She wants a 5 speed so she will get it. Even if i have to but another car for parts. As for the engein i want to get away from the single injector and go to multi. I would liek to trubo or super this engien eventually. I am figuing to do the mechanical this year then the body kit next year.
