Dist Cap - why so costly ?
Well by the records, it's been 58K since the previous owner had a tune up. Did plugs a couple weeks ago and now going to do the cap/rotor. Pulled up the autozone web and saw the Wells gold class cap/rotor unit at $65.00. Just wondering why the price was higher than my past fords ? Are there internal parts in the cap or what ? *
Thanks, 99 K1500, Z71, LS, 5.7 Old Body Style. * must be payback for driving POS Fords since 1979 ? ! |

Re: Dist Cap - why so costly ?
The cap has bussing molded into the top to direct the spark to a terminal on the side of the engine adjacent to the spark plug, rather than having wires cross over at the cap.
If you think that's a high price, check the cap/rotor for an OptiSpark distributor (about $140) or COP systems ($65 each for eight units). Last edited by Blue Bowtie; 09-14-2006 at 08:07 AM. |
