Cool question on shifting

Hi guys I have a question. I have a friend who races but he does this thing sometimes when he shifts where lets say he was in 3rd he will just put it in neutral rev it up and put it back in 3rd. I was just wondering first of all is this good for the tranny and second will it acctually do anything beneficial in the drag.

Thanks

Re: question on shifting

there's absolutely no point in doing it when drag racing.

Re: question on shifting

It is a good Idea if you want to participate in a race where accelleration has been banned.
