No Power to Starter

Hi I just finished replacing my sons blinker switch a couple of days ago in a 1999 Cavalier. It has been driven a couple of times since this replacement. Now he went to work last night and now it wont start. I actually shorted out the silinoid and got it started and drove it home. I have it in the garage and this is where I am at now. The key does turn on with all of the lights working, and I hear a faint clicking sound from under the hood when I turn the key. I then turned on the head lights as I turn the key and they do not dim. (I worry about the ignition key on these cars) So I pulled off the starter and had my son take it to Auto Zone and it tested fine. I also cleaned all the terminals on the battery and grounds to the block to no evail. Is there a simple way to check if this might be the key switch? I also have pulled checked and cleaned all the Ignition fuses in the car and under the hood. There is a starter relay under the hood, Autozone did not carry this (dealer Part) I guess this also could be bad. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also thanks for all good posts on rear brake problems. They had all the answers for solving my last problem with this car without having to start a new thread.

Steve

Thumbs up Re: No Power to Starter

Well after several aggrevating hours at chasing down wires I found out that it is not hard to trouble shoot. To trouble shoot the ignition key just pull out the ignition switch located under the steering wheel (you dont even have to remove the steering wheel) on the other side of the key lock and test with a screwdriver. Wow it worked it was the key lock itself not turning far enough. Well I hope that this might help someone further on down the road.

Thanks for taking the time and explaining what the problem was, most people don't bother to share.
