Gas Tank will not fill up

Hi, Have a 2001. S40 T19. Bought car a couple of months ago. When I fill up the tank, it doesn't seem to fill up completely. For example, I had a little less than a quarter of a tank, went to the gas station, said fill it up and after I paid and turned on the car the gauge goes up to a little past 3/4 full. It only took about 8.5 gallons, so I don't think its the gauge. Do you think that air pressure just shuts the pump off and I should ask the guy to keep pumping, car not full. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Gas Tank will not fill up

I also have a 2001 S40 with 1.9T which I purchased new and had the same problem.
I brought back the car to the dealer and they re-adjusted the fuel needle gauge. I believe it had to do with how it was installed or positioned in the fuel tank which was giving inaccurate info.
At this point, you will probably have to get a local garage or the car dealer to adjust it.
