the better buy

im looking for another bike...i have plenty experience but only one a 600...there are two types of bikes that i cant choose between....the kaw636 and the suzuki750.....so which would u choose..give the prices and year......a 04-05 kaw 636 with 6000miles or less ...or the 02-03 suzuki750 with 6000-9000miles..and lets say the both cost about the same price with the 750 maybe 300 or 400 dollars more......i like them both but i cant chose which one to get..which would u buy if u were in that situation (with no bias cuz i know there are alota kaw and gixxer fans)

Re: the better buy

can't help but be biased.....

i'm yet to own a kawasaki. nothing personal i'm just yet to have one.(yam then suzuki now a honda)

i'd go the suzuki. the 750 is a bigger bike and you'll probably never outgrow it.

its good for two up and touring as well as a track tool.

Re: the better buy

I have also heard the 636 is slower and doesnt handle as well as the 750 GSXRs...though I have no personal experience with it as Ive only ridden the GSXR myself. Just passing on what Ive heard from those who have...

That is in the later model '04-'05 models anyway...not sure about the earlier 750s...Good luck either way.

I have no experience personally with owning sport bikes, but I read everything I can get my hands on, and have friends who own them...the consensus is you simply can't go wrong with a GSXR-750...it is the standard by which all others compare...has always been advanced compared to others in handling and power...

Re: the better buy

I am not keen on the 00-03 750s, they're pretty fat/big on the belly, even on the years it came out, it dwarfed the other sportbikes. I'd guess it's a better buy for someone tall, although the legs are going to be cramped anyway. Power and handling, that's no contest, all are very close. 04 and 05 636 are two different bikes, since they were redesigned, if money wasn't being considered, I would opt for the '05, or as well as 04+ gsxr750s.

If you're going ride mostly on the street, 750 is the best choice, but if track days are involved, I would go for 636, simply because you'll get more out of it.

Best streetbikes are twins however.

nup. the gixer is built for the track. once you've had the gixer on the track, you realise that is shit on the road.

Re: the better buy

Ooh a debate. Yeah, 750 has low torque for the street compared to liter, but still it's more than 636, and helluva more than the 600s. I am going to guess keeping the bike in 2nd or 3rd all day long has good enough midrange for the 750, as oppose to 600 where you have to tap dance gearbox all day long.

Also I have heard that above 9000 rpm at the track, the 750s (post 2000+) then behave like a literbike, tons of power and rear can step out easily. I believe it was overall faster than 929 when it came out, and matched the R1 as far as top end dragging went.

All sportbikes these days are made for track anyway.
