Amateur Stereo Mistake....help??

So one day I decide to try installing a new deck by myself in my 2003 Oldsmobile Alero, I've done this in numerous cars with flawless results, except for before I was patient. This time around I couldn't wait to get my whole new system in, and I didn't have an aftermarket adapter, so I cut the wires and began to connect the wires to the new deck, of course, no luck. So then I decide to put the factory deck back in matching the wire colors exactly as they were before, again, no luck. Now when I connect the deck the glow lights actually turn on, but there is no read display, it won't take or eject a cd, and I'm not exactly sure where to go from here. I took an ohm meter to all my fuzes in and out the car, they all tested okay for continuity because I'm not exactly sure what they "Should" read at. The deck has to be getting power because the glow lights are on, I'm pretty stuck here and not sure what to do besides taking it to a shop, but that costs money I don't have, so any help would be greatly appreciated...thank you

Also if anybody could get ahold of the stereo wiring diagram it would be great, I'm getting insanely frustrated trying to find one right now...haha
Also, is it possible for a fuze to test positive for continuity but not have enough power flowing through it to actually work? Sorry, I'm new to this stuff. Thanks again.

Are you sure you didn't pop a fuse when you were chopping the wires? There are multiple power feeds to the deck - just having backlight doesn't mean you have power to the entire unit.

every fuse in my car and under the hood beeped for continuity...so im assuming that there isnt any popped fuses, you wouldnt happen to know which fuses are power to the deck would ya? Theres only one reference in the diagrams shown on the actual car, and thats on the inside, it says radio amp, nowhere else in the car does it make a reference to stereo....

Haven't a clue which fuses power the deck - if it doesn't say radio, I wouldn't know. I've long since passed the days of replacing car stereos. The only change I made on mine was to replace the stock AM/FM/Cassette with a AM/FM/Cassette/CD that I got off Ebay from the same model year car.

I'd suggest checking all your connections that you've spliced back together and verify they're correct. If everything looks OK, try to find a wiring diagram and see if you can at least get your aftermarket radio working. Or, go to a shop and break out the wallet.

Aye, thank you for your help, I do appreciate it. Last resort is shop still! haha
I'm working on finding a new wiring harness for it, so I can just attach the clip. My nephew had gotten ahold of the clip, so there could possibly be an issue, maybe a wire ripped out and put back in or something to that effect. I'm still yet to find a matching clip, nowhere in town supplies it, and all the websites I have checked aren't the clips that connect to the deck... Oh well, the search continues, thank you again.

Wiring Information:

Radio 12v orange + radio harness
Radio Ground black/white - radio harness
Radio Ignition (Class 2 Data)
Radio Illumination brown + radio harness
Factory Amp Turn-on
Power Antenna dk. green + radio harness
LF Speaker +/- tan - gray +,- radio harness
Notes: If equipped, the amplifier is in the driver side on the trunk.
RF Speaker +/- lt. green - dk. green +,- radio harness
LR Speaker +/- brown - yellow +,- radio harness
RR Speaker +/- dk. blue - lt. blue +,- radio harness

Please keep in mind there are two fuse panels inside the cabin, one at each end of the dash. There are fuses for the radio on each side. While this doesn't sound like a fuse issue, there are two (I think) on the passenger side of the car that when blown, the radio won't work.
