Re: fuel pump wont come on

I can't remember if that model has 2 fuel pumps. My 88 has one in the tank and one on the frame rail, under the cab, drivers side. The intank is a low pressure pump that feeds the high pressure pump on the frame. If both are not coming on, I might look into the fuel pump relay. Trace the circuit back until you find power. For example, check before inertia switch, then move to fuel pump relay and so on. If either pump is out, the fuel system will not function properly. A fuel pressure tester would probably be helpful.

The ECC relay powers the fuel pump relay, but since the truck is capable of running, the ECC relay is probably still good. I cannot remember, I don't have the wiring right in front of me, but I am thinking power to the injectors and sensors, as well as the positive that gets switched on by the ECC relay all share the same fuse. I would need to verify this.

Run codes to verify that the computer still has it's sanity.
