95 trooper- keyless remote programming HELP!
Hi all,
I'm trying to program the keyless remotes on my friends 1995 trooper, I found the security box under the dash and have accessed it through the obd cutout, have found a yellow button in the hole on the center of the box, I have not seen any other buttons on the sides of the box. When I press this button with a pen and turn the ignition on, the dash lights flash and the horn beeps, but when I press a button on the remote, it does not accept the remote, I have tried both remotes. does anyone have the correct instructions to program the remotes or does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I have not found instructions for pre 98 troopers, so I'm doing this from memory as I had a older Trooper a while back with the same system. The remotes have new batteries by the way and were tested on a kent-moore keyless entry tester to verify that they work. Thanks in advance for your help! Joe 98 Trooper Limited 02 trooper LS |

1995 Isuzu Truck Trooper (4 Door) V6-3165cc 3.2L SOHC (6VD1)
Vehicle Level Accessories and Optional Equipment Keyless Entry Service and Repair ![]() Service and Repair 1995-1996 Trooper (with optional keyless entry system) 1997 Trooper (with factory-installed system) Programming the Transmitter NOTE The system uses a stacking-type memory that accepts up to four transmitters. If you program a fifth transmitter, the memory for the first transmitter is cleared, and it will no longer work. To clear a lost or stolen transmitter from the system's memory, program a transmitter four times. This will remove the missing transmitter from memory, since only four transmitter codes can be accepted. Another way to clear a lost or stolen transmitter is to erase all transmitter codes and then reprogram them. Refer to the security system owner's manual.

Re: 95 trooper- keyless remote programming HELP!
Hi again
I just got around to try to program the remotes and I'm stuck! The remotes are square and have 3 buttons; lock, unlock and panic. The control unit does not have a green button on the side, only a yellow button in the center and is marked "Isuzu Security System". When I press the yellow button with a pen with the ignition on, the horn beeps 3 times and the lights flash, but nothing happens whe n I press the buttons on the remote.Any ideas? Thanks in advance! Joe

Re: 95 trooper- keyless remote programming HELP!
I checked from 95 through 97, and the manual shows only the two button key fob, and the same info previously posted for operation. I don't know what type of system they may have had as an alternative. this is the info for a Rodeo of the same year, but it has four buttons, but you may be able to try it as an alternative:
1995 Isuzu Truck Rodeo (4WD) L4-2559cc 2.6L SOHC (4ZE1) Vehicle Level Accessories and Optional Equipment Keyless Entry Service and Repair ![]() Service and RepairNOTES: The system uses a stacking-type memory that accepts up to four transmitters. If you program a fifth transmitter, the memory for the first transmitter is pushed out, and it will no longer work. To clear a lost or stolen transmitter from the system's memory, program a transmitter four times. This will remove the missing transmitter from memory, since only four transmitter codes can be accepted. Programming the Transmitter
The battery number is 23-144 (Radio Shack), A-23 (Eveready), or MS-21/MN-21 (Duracell). Each transmitter uses one battery. |

Re: 95 trooper- keyless remote programming HELP!
Hi again,
Thanks, that looks more like the control module than the first one and it in the same spot as the trooper, not under the seat as in the rodeo. The remotes look the same except the trooper ones have only 3 buttons. I'll try it and let you know. Thanks again, Joe

Hi,
It worked!! Strange though, I did not know that the security moduile from a rodeo fits/works in a trooper. Thanks again, Joe

Re: 95 trooper- keyless remote programming HELP!
Wow, that is great that you were able to figure out how to reprogram the module! It is so nice to hear that once in a while the information here helps to get things done.
I guess the engineers don't split hairs too closesly when crossing model lines! |

Re: 95 trooper- keyless remote programming HELP!
Hi,
Yea, I thought it was strange, I looked at the module under the seat from a 1996 rodeo that a freind has and the harness seems to be the same, so I'm assuming that you can interchange them, that's good as it's easier to find one in a salvage yard than a trooper if it goes bad, you just have to use the rodeo remotes. I don't know if it holds true for the 98 and up as they changed a few things and there is no button to program the remotes. Joe
