Whats going on with my b&m shifter...

I bought this car with the shifter already installed, a buddy of mine said that its a shifter for a truck and not for the camaro, another buddy said its just the cable sticking, anyway... the shifter is pulling up my whole center console plastic around the shift plate and all.. everything where the ashtrey and everything is... when i shift it down into 1st it lifts up the plastic around everything. It is mounted right and everything is bolted down properly...
This is the best picture i have of it, maybe somebody who also has one could tell me if its the right one for a camaro, whitch might be causeing my problem.

it shouldnt matter if its for a truck, as long as its for the same trans and its mounted correctly, there shouldnt be a problem, the ones for the camaros are different in one way, and that is that they will fit into the 3rd gen center council, but yours does to so i think yours is meant for a 3rd gen, btw is it a b and m megashifter?

Odds are its mounted right, just its not meant for your cars center console. So when you shift down a lever in the mechanism pops and hits the panel. It does that with mine just a little and I got mine strictley for the Camaro.....How too fix it, other than ripping out the plastic in your center console, I dont know.
