Making the SERIES 1 faster??
well I have a series 1 engine that is in mint condition, Ive decided to scrap my stock supercharger plans after doin alot of research...
what will be the easiest way to get more power out of the engine, it is strong as hell now, but I want it to run alot more, I know what the block can do.... anyone know of aftermarket chips? or intakes? or any performance updates? dont get me wrong, she is quick, I normally beat 6 out of 10 people I race... even 2000+ vehicles.... and she is still stock!! It will hold to 45 in 1st gear, with a aftermarket transmission vaccum.... I cant wait to put a K&N intake on it... cause she grawls now like she wants more air......I also want to change how the engine runs and fires??? do I need a entire ignition system and computer? |

Re: Making the SERIES 1 faster??
As for aftermarket stuff, there is close to nothing for the series one engine. Mainly because the engine was built for fuel economy and not speed.
The best bang for the buck is opening up the exhaust and the intake. As for chips, most are simply a string of resistors to trick the ECM into thinking that the engine is running too lean and therefore runs the engine rich. As much as I love my engine, I really don't have much planned for it. Whenever something takes a crap in it that doesn't merit fixing it (which will be a while for an engine with only 50k miles on it) I'm just planning on swapping in a supercharged series II engine/trans.

Re: Making the SERIES 1 faster??
Yup. 'Tis be for a Series II.
Hmm... That is a nice link for future reference though for whenever I do decide to do a Series 2 swap. How much power would an non SC tubo'ed engine have vs a non turbo'ed SC SII? Any ideas?
