9/11

It has been 5 years since 9/11/01, I hope everyone took a small amount of time to themselves to remember the events that unfolded that morning, what it has done to us as a people, what it has done to you as an individual, and what will become of us tomorrow.

Re: 9/11

Ugh...

As if the daily news stories, movies and tv specials had prevented us from remembering.

Sorry if I sound cold, but I am very sick of hearing about this.

Re: 9/11

I was at work all day and didn't have access to TV so I wasn't bombarded by media but it was in the back of my mind.

Click that link for some awesome amateur photos of that day. Sorry for linking another forum but it isn't exactly competing for members with our automotive site. The guy taking the photos is a truely brave soul.

Re: 9/11

I'm with everyone else...my heart is out to all those that lost their lives or a loved one, but I really do get tired of hearing about it. It seems like yesterday that it happened to me, I was still in middle school when it happened. Never forget...

Well, you guys already seem to be "sick" of Sept. 11 and it's only been five years. That's what happened to Dec. 7 & June 6.

Just five years later and we've had...

two big budget Hollywood films with a 3rd coming out I believe
they're now airing a small mini-series on ABC
large numbers of fake organizations gathering money for the "familes"
a war that many people have been questioning
shakey economy
very un-clear national security issues as well as homeland security issues
many politicians using it as grounds for their campagne...including a certain President

Yep, people are feeling just aweful about 9/11 and sure do remember

The people who hurt the most at the end of the day are the ones that were lost and their families. Somebody planned 9/11 and carried it out. Those people need to be brought to justice and goat rapped to death. Also, five years is too short to start making movies and series about an event that still deeply hurts people.

Re: 9/11

I hope everyone takes time to think about the 100s of thousands of innocents who also died in other countrys as a result of sept 11 as well.
So far nearly 100 people have died for every 1 that died when the WTC was hit.
And that ratio can, and will only get worse.
So spare a though for all your fellow Humans effected by this, and realise that War is never a good thing, and should always be avoided at all costs.

"Lest we forget".

I don't care who you blame, and Im not interested in the hows and why, just remember that this single event triggered death and destruction to a lot more people than those living in New York on Spet 11th.

Re: 9/11

people, i didn't ask you to complain like babies about how many times you've heard about 9/11/01 today. I'm sure you've heard your mothers yell at you to do something with your life more than you have about 9/11, so honestly, quit bitching.

I did ask you to take time to reflect on yourself, though. how you, have changed, how people have changed, and how we will still change tomorrow. i'm not asking you to feel bad, to feel pity, to pay homage to any heroes, to remember the dead... just ask yourself what it has done to you in these 5 years is all.
if you don't want to, i could really care less, so don't waste thread space by bitching

nobody has remembered those long before this. i was sick of it by the nest year cause we waste time having a holiday for King Jr, that soliders are dying and we need to bring them home cause the war is wrong, and all this other BS> it's like its the only thing that has ever happened. im not tired of it because , ok, its over, it happened. i was tired because they make this like Jesus's second coming while shit happens elsewhere all the time and we only ever focus one day on it then maybe a few surrounding days.

next thing ya know...meh, w/e. "what day was it the other day? oh right, sept 11. oh yeah, those towers were attacked. yeah..."

Re: 9/11

^huh? I don't understand your beef here. Are you mad that our society fixates on tragedies and unfortunate events? Are you mad at the number of holidays celebrated throughout the year? Are you mad that so much fuss is made about events that americans will eventuall only have a feigned passion about? Are you mad that american so often feign their passion for important events through history? Did you just learn the easter bunny isn't real?

Re: 9/11

to all of you bitchin about..."o, ive heard about this too much" "o, im tired of hearing of it", seriously, its the WORST attack in american history. if you're not an american, cool i understand. if you are,you are....do you know how many people died? about 2700. you know how many people that is? your whole fuking high school+ the teachers+ some of the parents too. If you cant take the news channel showing respect to the 2700 families(families meaning hundreds of thousands of people affected) on the very least the actual day of the event then turn the channel. if you werent there or you didnt lose somebody, you cannot possibly comprehend the devastation that went on and the profound impact it has had on the world today. i mean wow..desensitized...have you ever seen somebody jump off a building onto a concrete street? how bout a random body part showing up on your doorstep. ever been covered from head to toe in ash that's comprised partially of vaporized bodies? didnt think so. i bet if you mom died tomorrow you would remember that day every year and would be ready to fight anyone who got "sick" of you going to her grave every year. this is one of the reasons why our brothers and sisters are out there in iraq and afghanistan and the many other places throughout the world. and yes dec 7 is remembered every year

/end rant

sorry if i sympathize with millions of people on the worst thing that has happened in my generation.

Re: 9/11

9/11 was a life-changing event, in much the same way that December 7th was, and June 6th (and 9th) were as well. Life is not the same today as it was 5 years and one week ago.

Why do we need to remember it? Well, we were attacked. That's also what happened on December 7th. It also directly led to the events of June 6th and 9th.

Because of 6-6 and 6-9, a powerful and oppressive regime ceased to exist, and the world was made safer.

Also, 12-7, 6-6 and 6-9 occured during my grandfather's generation. Many, many years before I was born, and I am Generation-X. One thing that sets the current generations apart from the generations of that time is unity. We had it back in WWII. We don't have it now. For what you like or hate about our current president, you need to realize that we're here now. Whatever sins you may or may not perceive the US has having committed, we are there now, decisions have been made and we have to see them through. We can't have this constant bickering about who's right or who's wrong. As Bush correctly stated in his speech tonight, we are not the ones who pulled the trigger here (Iraq is a different issue and is not going to be discussed here), but we MUST see through to the end. One side is going to be victorious. What you need to consider is what side you're pulling for.
