Alright need some guidance here,
I picked up a used gm xm tuner from ebay for my wife's XM ready Equinox, plugged it in to the factory harness in the back and all started up while in the ACC position. As I was told would happen, after I started the car it went from playing xm just fine to displaying "theftlocked". I was told that might happen, took it to the dealership to have it reprogramed. They are saying they have never seen that happen, according to the tech the radio will usually lock up and be able to reprogram it, but on my case it is only the xm that is displaying "theftlocked" while everything else works ie fm,am. Help please.... |

Re: added OEM XM Tuner to xm ready radio
Same issue: added used XM module (GM PN 28126669/25911777) to my 2007 Saturn Outlook, get 'XM Theftlocked' message on radio. My Saturn dealer had the car for most of a day, was not able to clear the message, says it is impossible - or at least they don't know how. I know it can't be.
How were you able to resolve the problem? I can't return the module, can't use it, can't really sell it knowing it can't be used as is. Help! Don S. |

Re: added OEM XM Tuner to xm ready radio
Donslade, I ended up selling the unit back on ebay to a guy that wanted the plug for it, I asked three different dealers and all told me that they were not sure on how to unlock it, one tech stated that once the unit is plugged in it "marries it self to the vehicle VIN and will only operate on that vehicle" . However, during my research I discovered that Pioner has a Sirius unit that is completely plug and play, its the Pioner Sirius GM1. Circuit city carries it for $89.99. Its completely plug and play, I conected the unit directly to the plug were the XM factory unit would plug into and worked perfectly. Sounds crystal clear and all the other features like presets worked. the only draw back was that for some reason I cant change the 1-6 presets from the steering wheel but can from the radio. Hope that helps man!
