can this exhaust fit?

im looking into getting a catback exhaust that came off a 99-04 grand am v6. would it be hard to make this work on a v6 01 alero?

You shouldn't have too many issues especially since they are on the same vehicle platform. You may have to make some small modifications but there shouldn't be any major problems.

What brand CATback is it?

Technically, the Catback systems made for a Grand Am SE or GT with the 3400 should fit. The hanger hooks appear to be in similar locations underneath. The link below is an installation guide for a Borla Catback system to give you an idea of the work involved.

The important thing to to get the exhaust hung and mounted properly so you do not get any vibrations and knocking sounds from the exhaust hitting the undercarriage which could be very annoying.
