Any ideas?

Ok, I'm new to Hondas but not turnig wrenches. My sisters 91 civic four door wagon quit on her going down the road. She said she slowed down for a car in front of her turning and when she got back on the gas it would not go just coasted to a stop. I am thinking timing belt but i t only has 50,000 on it. Now it is leaking oil at the front of the engine so i guess the oil could have gotten to it. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I sthere an easy way to check the timing to see if it is off. the cam is still turning but i guess the belt could have lost a few teeth.......................

Re: Any ideas?

Can you give some more symptoms instead of "it just coasted to a stop." Does the car start and put up a decent idle? Does it only bog down when getting on the throttle? Does it even crank? Please elaborate.

Re: Any ideas?

Take the valve cover off and make sure the T-belt has adequate tension. Then check for spark by pulling one of the spark wires out of the distributor cap and holding it close to one of the terminals and cranking the engine. If that doesnt work you then take off one of the gas lines and check for fuel, or turn the key to ON and check to see if you can hear the fuel pump prime. If no spark, then either your coil or ignitor, in your distributor, most probably went out. If no fuel, than it could be your fuel pump died.

Re: Any ideas?

Check to make sure that the rotor did not fall off, take off the distributor cap. Also could be the ignitor eh?
