I have a 1999 blazer that the battery went dead after sitting from a two week vacation. When I replaced the battery, the climate control went nuts... with it set at 70 degrees and automatic control, the vents cycled from hot to cold non-stop.
I found a thread that suggested that the computer needed to be reset and to pull the ignition/bat fuse and start the car... then replace it. I did that and the only thing that works now is the air conditioning. The temp will not adjust to the hot side at all and is stuck at the coldest setting. That was fine in the summer, but not in the fall. Has anyone had this problem, and if so - what was wrong and how much $ did it cost to fix. My dealer said they have never come accross this before and I don't want sticker shock from troubleshooters at the dealer. Thanks, Dave |

Re: 1999 Blazer Climate Control Problem
Since when has anyone said to start the vehicle with the fuses out?
No one ever has said to do that. Pull the negative battery terminal off of the battery for an hour or so and see if it fixes it. Other than than, I have no clue what you have damaged pulling fuses while the engine was running. Really do your research before you attempt something, don't just go over it briefly and go run out and do it.

Re: 1999 Blazer Climate Control Problem
Before I did anything, I called the dealer to verify this, and they said this was the procedure for recalibration. When I called the dealer back with the results, they said to bring it in.
I will disconnect the battery while I'm at work and reconnect it. Hopefully I will not have to take it to the dealer. Thank you for your advise BalzerLT. Dave |

Re: 1999 Blazer Climate Control Problem
Yep, here's a post with pics I remembered and I also had the blend motor fail - another cheap plastic gear in it.
