ok starting problem

hi ,
after i replaced my waterpump , now the engine is not overheating , but since that the car is having problems starting like , i turn the key and i hear the engine turning , but not catch u no.. sometime i have to step on the gas and turn the key then it will start and i noticed my tech.
that its always below 1000rpm when starting.
