upgrade a 2004 to a monsoon system

Does any one know if you can hook a monsoon stereo up to a 2004 grand am That just has a regular stalk cd player in it? Will it plug right in? And can I put the ac delco rear speakers in as well, is the wiring already to be installed? Or would it be easier to just put a after market sytem in, and if so any recomendations?

Re: upgrade a 2004 to a monsoon system

What is your year of grand Am would help!!!!!!

But, No I dont think the Monsoon system has the same plug in's as the Delco stocker.
Those speakers from the Monsoon would probly fit/work tho.
Why you hav a monsoon system and the speakers?

If you are looking for a good stereo try Crutchfield They are pricy, but its a good place to find what will fit and what you like, tho they come with a free harness usually from Crutchfield.
Then you can go to any Car Audio place and find it cheaper.

And Welcome to AF!

Re: upgrade a 2004 to a monsoon system

Your stock CD only has 4 speakers?
I was certain they were 8 speakers like all 99+ w/factory delco CD.

NO it dont think it will plug in.

I'm not even certain how my cd/tape thingy works
I hav the Delco CD but the tape is under the HVAC controls.

It might just be a matter of adding some wire(s).

Last resort, Could also call a Stealership and ask them,
tell them you might want to buy a Monsoon from them
If it'll swap

Re: upgrade a 2004 to a monsoon system

go to circuit city and ask the guys in the roadshop to take a look at what you have... they should do it for free... i work at cc in a roadshop so i know... and a monsoon system needs the factory amp to work... and the speakers are components... on a monsoon system... i took mine out and it was a pain..... to change it all out with ok stuff it will run you about 500$ or more...

Why would you want to do that. Just go aftermarket. It will be cheaper, easier, and sound better.
